My husband's family and I are very close....Karima...his niece....was married last summer and had her baby this summer.  She was raised more as his sister and me and her are very close. We made the wedding last summer but sadly are missing all the baby festivities this year...nonetheless....we are living through the pics for now. Emad is not the *baby* of the family anymore...lol

We like boys...there are 6 boys and only 2 girls, one of which is Karima. Funny enough, husbands Mom had 5 girls before she had her last two, boys....guess it comes full circle.

He was born 08-30-09 which was one day into Ramadan and is considered a true blessing...not so much in her eyes...his due date was 8-11-09!

Here is the newest member of the Makinsi family...Khalil (means honorable comrade/friend)

7 days after the baby is born all the families get together for the welcome of the baby and for a boy, the circumcision as well. A lamb is sacrificed in the childs honor and served in his honor. The official naming is also done and the blessing of the baby by the Imam (sort of like a Muslim version of the priest) There is lots of food, dance, celebration. 40 days after his birth they have another celebration to cut his *first* lock of hair. The mom is also celebrated with henna and gifts and basically she is on *bed* rest for 40 days as well with someone helping her this time...she stays with family during this time and is treated like a *Queen*...embroidered bed linens, awesome food...the life for sure...lol

Awe!  Very sweet.  Khalil is a pretty name!   Is that mommy in the picture?  She looks good!

19 days late !?!?!?!?!?  (tell me I did the math wrong?)  OMG.  That poor woman! I thought 6 days late was bad!

Congrats to your family - and to Emad for no longer being the baby.  Now he's a big boy!!

In Morocco if Mom and baby are healthy and happy no rush...he was born ALL natural with no induction and no meds...credit to the birth process there for sure...she had her Mom and Grandma(Mom mother in law) to help plus many aunts and all in all she did so well for a first time Mommy!
